Ryan Mcnulty, MD

Throughout my life, I have found that, whether I am the learner or the teacher, I derive great joy in education. I have benefited from countless incredible teachers who showed me the value of paying attention to and caring for individuals as they learn and grow. I am beyond excited to embark on this stage of my career in medical education and to embody these values here at Penn.

My interests focus mostly on acute stroke evaluation and management, particularly interpretation of relevant imaging, as well as narrative medicine. As a resident, I ran several case simulations, gave conference talks, and developed a curriculum, all in an effort to expose rising PGY2 residents to acute stroke care and to help them ease into the role of the first neurologist evaluating a patient for stroke. I also had the pleasure of presenting a grand rounds at the University of Michigan on narrative medicine and its relationship to patients with neurologic disorders.

Clinically, I am a neurohospitalist with a focus in vascular neurology. I staff multiple inpatient services at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, Pennsylvania Hospital, and Virtua Our Lady of Lourdes, covering both stroke-specific and general services.
