Alexandra Pfister, MD

SUNY Downstate College of Medicine, 2019

My clinical interests focus on the inpatient diagnosis and management of neurologic illness. I like variety in neurologic cases and challenging differential diagnoses found in the inpatient world. I’m thrilled that I will be the first ever fellow in Penn’s new Neurohospitalist Fellowship, starting July 2023!

My personal interests include modern dance and Taiko (Japanese performance drumming) which I pursued semi-professionally in New York City for several years before starting medical school. I have continued these activities in Philadelphia and have built a small Taiko and dance ensemble with my husband who is also a performer.

For a many years I’ve looked for ways to combine my background in neurology and dance. My capstone project examines the effectiveness of a dance program for people with multiple sclerosis. My hope is to build a therapeutic dance program for people with a broad range of neurological illnesses.
